The inspiration for BinBib (German slang for I’m at the library) struck me during my time at Heidelberg University. At large universities, where student populations can exceed 30,000, it’s easy to feel lost. Friendships often form during introductory weeks, group projects, or sports, but even after years of study, we only connect with a fraction of our peers. For many students, this limited interaction leads to feelings of loneliness, especially for those who transfer to a new university and struggle to find their social footing.
Yet, one thing unites us all: studying. Every student spends countless hours immersed in course materials, and BinBib harnesses this shared experience to create a vibrant social network. By connecting students through their academic content and personal interests, BinBib fosters meaningful interactions and a sense of belonging.
With BinBib, you don’t just meet other students—you find motivation. When you start a study session in the app, you can see who else is hitting the books nearby. Collaborate, share tips, and when the work is done, take a well-deserved break together over coffee or a walk.
BinBib transforms studying from an isolated task into a shared journey. Let’s make learning social!
